I for one am excited about the ball. I really enjoy it when NCD gets to interact, face to face, with the rest of Reading without many of the extenuating circumstances that surround the usual discourse. Plus, the dancing and the dresses! It should be a lot of fun, I'm sure! Tony, are you -- do you

Also, D.I. Tony Watson kissed me. I think.

I am always glad when the NCD wraps a case, especially one so dangerous! We all know who we should be thanking for the life of Nora Wood, the one man who really does the right thing every time:

D.C.I Wolfe.

I for one don't think the outcome would have been the same without his efforts.

Sometimes, when I'm typing much too quickly, in an effort to get done at a reasonable hour, I'll misspell a word, transpose a letter and accidentally change the entire meaning of the entry. Instead of finding 'grace' I get 'grave', 'mood' for 'food', 'milk' becomes 'silk', I find 'twats' instead of 'twas'. 'Life and death' is now 'wife and death'. I doubt royalty enjoys being called 'Old King Mole'.

I'm sure that means something very deep.

Boo! Boo on the tortoise and all turtle/tortoise kind! Go Hares!

Oh, I love the Tortoise and the Hare race! I always hope the Hare will win, because I'm a big fan of underdogs, and he never seems to win. I'm hoping he can really buckle down and get his act together this year. I've heard good things through the grapevine! That's not true, who actually hears things through a grapevine anyway

As a side-note, did you know that the European Hare can run up to 70 km/h (that's 45 mph)? They are larger, longer-eared, and longer-legged than a rabbit. Also, rabbits' eyes are positioned on the sides, so they can cover larger areas. Rabbits can see behind them without turning their heads. Normally shy animals, hares change their behaviour in spring, when they can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around meadows; this appears to be competition between males to attain dominance (and hence more access to breeding females). Normally, this occurs in March, thus the phrase, "mad as a March hare". During spring, hares can be seen "boxing", where they strike each other with their paws. For a long time it had been thought that this was inter-male competition, but closer observation has revealed that it is usually a female hitting a male, either to show that she is not yet quite ready to mate or as a test of his determination. Bollocks. Its natural predators include the golden eagle and carnivorous mammals like the red fox and wolf.

I love that they're holding the race this close to Easter -- if only they could convince the Hare to carry baskets of marshmallow chicks and chocolate crosses!

That was ... fast. I wonder how quickly other employees are replaced; what sort of training do they have to do? Memorize the rhyme, get used to eating curds and whey? I bet there are loads of recipes online for making them taste less ... curds-y.

I am shocked! This is shocking! Is anyone else as shocked as I am, because I am truly flabbergasted!

She was so nice and a spider, how cruel is the irony in that! Or is it irony? You ride a plane so many times before eventually it has to crash, right?

But a spider!!
